How do I care for a crested gecko?
The only room i have available in the house is my basement to get a gecko and it can reach 83F in the summer months and im reading that crested’s will die if they are above 80F. Is this true even if I use a reptile humidifier in the tank? Thanks.
They usually get severely stressed out when in temperatures over 80-85F, but I haven’t had one die…yet. *knock on wood*
I currently have 3, and every now and then, the temperature gets to about 83-85 in their cage. I usually mist them down, which cools it off a bit. Keeping them in the coolest part of the house also helps, making sure there’s no drafts, though. I’ve known of some crestie keepers to put ice packs on a side of the cage, but haven’t tried this myself. As long as the temperature doesn’t stay at 80-85 for a long period of time, they should be fine.
