My newborn has a cold….?
she’s 6 weeks and is coughing, sneezing, and has a lot of mucus in her throat, I’m cleaning her nose out and have the humidifier in the room. She also keeps spitting up and vomitting…more spitting then vomitting but more amount then usual, is this because she is sick?
There is a possibility the humidifer is causing some of the cold symptoms. You can take her to the doc but there is a chance he/she is going to tell you the same thing mine told me.
She’s not sick, she’s learning to adapt to the environment, and yes that includes the sneezing and the mucus stuff coming out of her nose.
If the boogies are dry, try the saline nose drops. It’ll make the boogies come out easier and make it easier for her to breathe.
The spitting up and vomitting is most likely acid reflux. Where the flap doesn’t close completely when she swallows and then she ends up regurgitating what she’s eaten and it comes out looking like grossed out cottage cheese and smells even worse. The spitting up and vomitting will ease off around the time your baby is 3 months old when her stomach is able to hold larger amounts of food and she’s able to tell that she’s full.
Another hit that might help, is make sure you burp her every time she eats.
If she’s running a fever anything over 100 then take her to the doc otherwise I wouldn’t be too concerned. I’ve been there and spent hours waiting on the doctor only to be told everything was normal. Now unless she has a fever I do all the above and she’s made it to 6 months.
