I have a one-year-old furnace that is probably leaking into my basement.?
When I went into the basement originally I thought it was my water heater, but the water heater is in a low spot in the basement. The furnace, by contrast, is in a high spot. There was a small amount of water around the furnace and a pool nearby (low spot). The furnace is only a year old, but high efficiency with humidifier. The basement is such that, although the largest amount of water was under the water heater, I suspect the furnace. Both the top and bottom of the water heater are dry. And, the amount of water is somewhat modest. Neither are apparently leaking at the moment. I turned the heat up to 74 to crank up the furnace and observed no leaked up to the point that the house was heated to 71 (It was previously at 67). However, I heard a lot of water running when the furnace first started. Where should I look? I think it must be one of the two. (I did not use hot water all day long, yet found water in the basement this afternoon).
There is condensation in the high efficiency furnaces that is drained away by a pvc drain line and there’s a copper water line connection from the water pipe to the humidifier. You look there for leaks or poor drainage.
