What is the difference between Air Purifiers , Dehumidifiers, and a Humidifier?
What would be the best to make my room less stuffy, because my nose gets really dry to the point it hurts and I cant breath when I close my door and window. If I leave the window open I get sick. Which one would best fit me?
Air Purifiers: cleans the air from pollutants and things like animal fur, pollen, and dust. Helps people with certain allergies and sensitivities. Used all over the country.
Dehumidifiers: takes the water out of the air and collects it in a bucket. drys out the air- best for people with allergies/congestion problems. Most used in the south, or any humid climates.
Humidifier: puts extra water into the air- best for people with your kind of problem. Most used in mid west (Arizona, for example. dry state, lots of humidifiers).
Well, if your room seems stuffy and sticky, it’s too humid, and a dehumidifier would work wonders. From what I found though, if your room is too humid, that makes your nose run and makes your eyes water…my brother lives in a very humid place, and has had really bad allergies, and doesn’t do well in humidity. His nose is always running, and his eyes get scratchy and watery. So I’m not sure your place is too humid…he used a dehumidifier to take the water out of his room, and it dried up his nose…
It sounds more like you need a humidifier- the dry nose already, and trouble breathing, sounds like it’s too dry, and kind of suffocating you lol it sounds like you need a humidifier, and some airflow- try a fan in your room to move the air around, so it doesn’t get stale and stuffy. I grew up in the desert lol, and we needed humidifiers b/c it was way too dry, and the same thing would happen to me that’s happening to you- humidifiers helped a ton, and the fan helps even more.
If you think pollutants are to blame, a purifier would help, but pollutants/allergens usually make eyes/nose run, and make your nose stuffy. I don’t think you’re dealing with it being allergy issues or too humid, b/c your not congested, sounds like it’s too dry.
I’d say try the humidifier and see if that works…if not, take it back and exchange it for a dehumidifier. It’ll be pretty obvious in a day or two (week max) if it’s working or not, and that should fall under any store’s return/exchange policy.
