cool vs warm mist humidifiers?
What is better for children?
The warm mist requires the water to in effect get to a boil as it passes through the vaporizer, thus becoming steam before being released to the air. Consequently the bacteria and germs in the water/equipment are killed before they are spread into the air in the room.
The cool mist type does not go through the heat process and any germs that are in the water and the equipment are thus fully released into the atmosphere of the room. Therefore, if you use this type you must clean it and disinfect it regularly as recommended by the manufacturer.
