What is the difference between a cold and warm air humidifier? Which should I get?
We are going to have a baby so I want one that we can put in the baby’s room after she is born. However, for right now I’d like it in our room b/c I have the air on and a fan on b/c I’m a hot hormonal pregnant lady trying to sleep and my man is freezing and gets a runny nose and sore throat b/c of the air on all night. So should we get cold or warm air? Or should we have one for us and a different one for baby?
I think it’s a matter of preference. I have a humidifier, but growing up we had a vaporizer. My only suggestion is to buy the cheapest one. I bought one of those cute animal humidifiers (where the mist comes out of their ears or whatever). And it worked really well, but broke after a season. I’ve found that most can only last a season (no matter how nice or expensive they are). So I bought the cheapest $20 Vicks, and it works really well! If it breaks, oh well, I didn’t spend much on it. You can clean it out by putting a tablespoon or so of white vinegar in while you run it. You can also add things like a few drops of lavender oil to the water, for colds.
You probably won’t need one as much [for yourself] after the baby is born. I slept with one right next to me the few weeks before my son was born. As soon as he came out, I didn’t need it anymore.
