The powerful ion exchanger in the cartridge removes calcification in the water, preventing unhealthy minerals from collecting in the water droplets and entering the air. This also eliminates the white dust often created by ultrasonic systems that tends to collect on nearby objects. This water cleaning accessory is for use in Ultrasonic humidifier units and fits most humidifiers with a standard tank cover. can mineral build up on a humidifier contaminate the air in my baby’s room?
I have a Vick’s humidifier that i use in my baby’s room. When i first started using it i noticed white mineral build up on the heating element. So i went out and bought a protec antimicrobial cleaning cartridge. It’s just a little ball that sits in the water tank. Ever since i’ve been using that the white mineral build up has turned orange. (I’ve cleaned out the humidifier everyday) And no matter what i do i cant get it off. I tried a bleach and vinegar solution and nothing has worked. I was wondering if there is anything harmful in the deposits that could get into the air and make my son sick?
Bacteria are the main concerns. Keeping the water warm allows bacteria to grow. Calcium deposits might plug up the humidifier, but won’t go into the air.
