mold growing on sheet rock?
We just recently got water damage in our home. a cleaning agencies has came out and dried up the water and sprayed the areas with mold. They say it wont come back since they sprayed it and placed humidifiers and fans out. the machinery was in the house for a week they removed it and we started smelling something the mold had moved to under the laminate flooring. they are doing the same thing over again. will all this work they are doing really get rid of the mold or will it just keep appearing? we have fixed where the water came in at so there should not be any more leaks. also the agencies does not want to remove the sheetrock with the damage just wall paper over it. will this keep the mold from growing more? i am very concerned about our health and my two toddlers. they say it is fine for us to stay living here but since this has happened my daughter and i have gotten sick. could the mold be causing the sickness also?
Once the mold is in the wall, the drywall needs to be replaced. They don’t have to replace it all the way up, but at a minimum the bottom 2 feet should be removed. There is also possibly mold in the insulation, and it sounds like there’s some under the floor as well. This is a health issue. If they refuse to replace the drywall, contact your local health department. They will require it. Good luck.
