Benadryl……to use or not to use!!!!?
I know that they say you shouldn’t give Benadryl to a child under the age of 4….as of last year that rule was made.
However, my son has some allergies and has been taking Benadryl since he was about 6 months old(off and on whenever his allergies act up). He’s never had an adverse effect and it has ALWAYS seemed effective at drying up his runny nose.
I’m wondering if it isn’t ok to continue using it in the correct dose? I was told by the MD’s office what his correct dose is, but then told that they don’t “recommend” it to anyone under the age of 4….then why did they tell me the correct dose?
What are your thoughts on my particular situation?
He does have a runny nose for 2 days that I’ve been treating with nose spray and humidifier with no results.

I’m sorry, I should have said he is 2 years 4 months old.
the reason they don’t recommend giving it is b/c a tiny amount over the recommended dose could have very adverse reactions, even death. When a baby is this young it doesn’t take much for them to overdose accidentally
