Getting rid of black mold or mildew on sheetrock from windows dripping condensation?
It’s an apartment, so Im looking for ways to clean the mildew or mold and not necessarily fix the windows or the condensation problem.
The window has a sill on the inside. The water runs along both edges of the window and then sits in the sills corner and then leaks down the wall on both sides. It hits the baseboard, where the mold or mildew occurs. Im just looking for ways to clean this up as it happens, as it will be a winterlong phenomenon.
I’d ask the office or repair person, but I use a humidifier and Im sure they’d consider this condensation my fault. This year I put up plastic sheeting to retain heat and moisture and naturally it increases the amount of runoff. I’m sure they’d find this to be my fault for the mold as well.
I’ve been zapping it with bathroom cleaner for tile every few weeks, but was wondering if there’s a better option out there.
You mix a little bleach in a spray bottle with water and spray it and wipe it it is supposed to kill the mold, don’t breathe it and be careful with bleach, if you read the warnings you will be amazed at how bad it is. It would be better to simply get a caulk gun and some caulk, and stop the water. Water can cause a lot of damage over the years.
