12 month old wakes in middle of night coughing. What is going on?!!!?
He’s not sleeping, I’m not sleeping. Help!!!
This started last week with him waking in the middle of the night coughing. It sounds like he is choking/trying to cough something up. What would cause this all of a sudden? He is not sick. No runny nose, temp, congestion, etc. Just waking with the cough. During the day he doesn’t cough at all.
I have a humidifier in his room and completely dusted in places I don’t normally dust. Is it allergies, asthma, teething? I gave him the children’s Claritan (ok per Pediatrician) and it did not help. I tried putting Baby Vick’s on his feet with socks and this did nothing either. I’m afraid he may have asthma.
Have any of you experienced this? Thank you!
The HEPA air filter, are you talking about the a/c filter in the home?
A cough that goes away or gets a lot better in the day, but is horrible at night can be classic asthma symptoms for some people, so it definitely is worth seeing a doctor about it. If your pediatrician wont take you seriously, ask to be seen by a pediatric pulmonologist.
You can reduce the dust and other allergens and irritants in the room further by installing a proper, HEPA air filter. Those “ionic breeze” type filters wont do much, you need one with a real filter.
