Easing a yucky cough…?

My 7 year old has been having a nasty-yuck-croup cough the last few days. It’s a really nasty bark (esp. morning and night) and this morning tossed up some mucus in the toilet. She’s slower to get going in the morning but there is no fever, no other ‘symptoms’ or things that keep her down and doesn’t feel ill (again, outside of the mornings with the cough hurting her throat). We’ve done the warm shower and hot tea with honey and humidifier. Any thing else we can do to ease her until the cough goes away? It’s due to the extreme weather changes (38F – 60F) daily.

I would go to the pharmacy and get some over the counter Robitussin DM. It will loosen up the phlegm in her chest and help make the cough less painful and more productive. It also won’t make her sleepy. Make sure you get the one that is Guifennisin and Dextromethorphan.
