Do I need a humidifier for my guitar if the humidity in my room is 45%?
I just got a new classical guitar and I want to know if I need to get a humidifier for my guitar if the humidity in my room (which is where I put my guitar) is 45%? I personally don’t want one because I’m a little bit afraid of putting stuff like that in my guitar. Is there another alternative to humidifiers?
I want my guitar to be moderately humid, not dry. If the air is too dry it causes the wood to shrink, although if the air is too humid it can cause the wood to swell. The optimal humidity for a room that has a guitar in it is 45% to 55%.
you can buy a sponge like material at a local guitar store or online. i thought about this issue as well. the sponge sucks up humidity and has to be replaced after a couple of months but it works. also there are containers that do this kinda thing and last longer, whatever you do, dont spend alot of money.so many people do. its not too big of an issue. its not raining on your guitar. haha
