Water in furnace humidifier?

We just moved to house after living in an apartment, so most house maintaining things are new to us. So there’s a humidifier attached to the furnace in our house. It has like a tray filled with water.

I’m assuming you live in the US. If so what part? Your humidifier setting will change based on where you live. For example, in the North Eastern US, the winters are dry, but summers are humid, so the humidifier isn’t used in the summer, but is in the winter. If you live in the great plains, you might run it all year around. You have to set it to a point where you’re comfortable, but not too high. Too high a relative humidity in your home creates a breeding environment for mold.

Most furnace mounted humidifiers have their own water supply, they generally spray water on the panel while the blower is running, water sitting in a tray may mean that the drain could be plugged. Good luck!!
